Meaning is more complicated than just 1’s and 0’s as there is an analogousness to the way it fluctuates, especially when a word is isolated from gesture, when it exists without the author in the transmission from one plane of glass to another. Take when we speak. We hold a cadence and inflate our jaws in correlation to the word. These actions bring an insurance to its meaning. In literature ‘the word ‘big’ is not bigger than the word ‘little’’, but when combined with the magnitudes of our hands and expressions, the words better secure themselves to their attached meaning. ‘Big’ really does become big and ‘small’, smaller. If the sequence of words is legible then it will always be open to interpretation. That interpretation is something very difficult to control, and so when literature fails to defend its meaning, paralanguage must subpoena the author’s intended meaning to avoid a misinterpretation.
